HR Manager

Chorley | Hybrid Working (3 Days Office / 2 Days Home)

£40,000

I'm currently partnering with a growing and well-established business based in Chorley who are looking to appoint an experienced HR Manager to lead their people function and support the continued development of their workforce.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on HR professional who enjoys operating across both strategic and operational HR. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day HR function, provide expert guidance to managers, oversee employee relations matters, and help drive a positive and high-performing culture across the business.

The successful candidate will also manage a small HR team and work alongside an outsourced HR consultancy to ensure the business remains compliant, engaged and focused on best practice.

The Role

As HR Manager, you'll be responsible for delivering an effective and professional HR service across the organisation, ensuring managers are supported and employees receive a positive experience throughout their employment journey.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through to development, retention and offboarding.
  • Acting as the lead HR contact for managers and employees across the business.
  • Advising and supporting managers on employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance management and capability issues.
  • Managing complex HR cases in conjunction with the outsourced HR consultancy where appropriate.
  • Leading and developing the HR Coordinators, providing coaching, support and performance management.
  • Reviewing and enhancing HR policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Supporting recruitment activity, workforce planning and talent attraction initiatives.
  • Overseeing onboarding programmes and ensuring an exceptional employee experience for new starters.
  • Producing and analysing HR reports, identifying trends and making recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Monitoring absence, turnover, engagement and other key people metrics.
  • Overseeing payroll submissions including starters, leavers, contractual changes and salary amendments.
  • Managing employee benefits administration and communications.
  • Supporting wider business projects, organisational change initiatives and people-focused improvements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll be an experienced HR professional with a strong generalist background and the confidence to work autonomously while building effective relationships across the business.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a HR Manager, Senior HR Advisor or HR Business Partner role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Proven experience managing employee relations cases from start to finish.
  • Experience leading, mentoring or developing HR team members.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Experience using HR systems and producing meaningful HR reports and data analysis.

Desirable

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified or above.
  • Experience within an SME environment.
  • Experience working with outsourced HR providers.
  • Knowledge of payroll administration and employee benefits.

If you're an experienced HR professional looking for a varied and rewarding role where you can influence people strategy and drive positive change apply ASAP!
