At Adaptable Recruitment we have an Excellent Opportunity for a Junior Buyer to join a progressive & forward thinking Solar and Electrical distributor in the Widnes area.

Salary: up to £30,000 depending on experience
Location: Widnes - fully office based
Hours: Full-time | Monday-Thursday: 9am-5pm, Friday: 9am-4pm

Main Responsibilities Include:

Purchasing & Supplier Coordination

  • Raise and manage purchase orders.
  • Assist in maintaining supplier relationships to ensure quality, competitiveness, and reliability.
  • Support supplier performance reviews, including analysis of lead times, service levels, and product quality.

Stock & Inventory Control

  • Monitor inventory and initiate reorders based on sales trends and stock thresholds.
  • Liaise with warehouse and logistics teams to coordinate incoming deliveries.

Cost & Contract Administration

  • Review and verify supplier quotations before purchase order approval.
  • Help maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with internal procedures.
  • Provide regular updates on product availability, delivery times, and potential supply issues.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Keep procurement systems and CRM databases updated with accurate, real-time information.
  • Contribute to reports on stock movement, order tracking, and supplier performance.
  • Share relevant procurement information with internal departments such as sales, finance, and operations.

Sustainability & Compliance

  • Support the company's sustainability goals by considering environmental and ethical factors in purchasing decisions.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Well-organised with strong administrative capabilities.
  • Confident communicator, able to interact effectively with both suppliers and internal teams.
  • Analytical thinker with solid problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Familiarity with CRM/ERP systems is beneficial but not essential (training provided).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ideally 1-2 years of experience in procurement or supply chain (not essential).
  • Basic understanding of purchasing and inventory management processes.
